Frank darabont (showrunner) steps down.

                         Walking Dead's New Showrunner is...

Source:Deadline

July 28, 2011

This should really come as no surprise, but Glen Mazzara is taking on showrunner duties for The Walking Dead season two after Frank Darabont stepped away this week.

When there was talk of a disruption in the writing bullpen of the show, Darabont assuaged any fears by revealing in June, "We hired Glen Mazzara as our Number Two in the room. We consider him our head writer and he’s just a fantastic asset."

Mazzara is best known for his work on The Shield.

on a side note,  my other favorite show "breaking bad" is in negoiation for its 5th season. the problem is they want to cut the series from 13 episodes down to 6 or 8.

the relevance....breaking bad is also on amc which is trying to cut costs. wether or not how this affects walking we will have to wait and see (if FX picks up breaking which is rumored, that may leave enough money for walking not to be tinkled with) after all can you imagine a 8 episode year and having to wait 10 months for next season?

both series are very expensive to produce, since this wont affect walking this year, and since it is highly rated they would be best to leave well enough alone, but breaking is no slouch either with cranston bringing in 3 consecutive best actor in a drama awards. 13 episodes is way to few if you ask me for either series if they cant afford to hold on to either, ship it to a more viable network that wont mess with the writers or directors where it can flourish with a bigger budget. somewhow i dont see thier two best series being cut down if they were smart.

Scott Ian Zombified on The Walking Dead

 Source: Twitter

August 15, 2011

Scott Ian loves zombies. I remember the Anthrax wrote an intro to IDW Publishing's "Remains." He used the print space to weigh in on the debate between fast and slow zombies. Now, he is a zombie, courtesy of KNB EFX and The Walking Dead. He posted the following via his Twitter account

"What have I wanted to do since 1978? Be a ZOMBIE!!! Full story on my day on Walking Dead coming later!!!"

The second season of the series begins October 16.

Walking Dead Show Runner Teases Season 2

Source:AMC

August 30, 2011

Glen Mazzara, the man newly crowned show runner of The Walking Dead was interviewed at the show's blog.

There he discusses his feelings on the new job title, working in horror and teasing what is to come in season two. Here's a sample:

"Our approach to our group of survivors when they reach Hershel's farm is that they are a plague unto themselves. Nothing goes right for Hershel once Rick and his band show up. They make the zombie apocalypse look like kids in a candy story. What's interesting is that if this was a show solely about Hershel, Rick and his band would really be the antagonists. And that's been really surprising because every action that Rick and his band take is completely logical, but you'll certainly sympathize with Hershel."

He adds that he is looking forward to bringing The Governor to the screen and says, "We have a fantastic scene in our fourth episode this season that I believe will make every fanboy happy. It'll give them hope that if they can make it through the zombie apocalypse, they can get laid off a hot chick too."

vote  Merle for Governor    -^

AMC Launches Walking Dead Companion Show

Source:Deadline

September 22, 2011

AMC is banking big on The Walking Dead season two. The network believes fans will be interested in a "discussion show" following each episode, so it has ordered up The Talking Dead.

Hosted by Chris Hardwick (House of 1000 Corpses), the half-hour talk show will air immediately following the series premiere on October 16 and resume November 4, following each episode of Walking Dead.

The Talking Dead is a forum for Hardwick to discuss each episode with fans and provide interviews with those involved in the show.

"As an ENORMOUS fan of both The Walking Dead comic and television show, I pretty much begged for this job. Dissecting the moves of Rick Grimes and the remaining survivors after every episode is something I would be doing with my friends anyway, so the fact that AMC is actually paying to do so is a bonus," Hardwick says.
