Raiderforum members. Your Gridiron resume.
« on: November 25, 2015, 01:05:36 PM »

Calling all members. Coming from a curious foreigner, I'm genuinely interested to know about your own personal history in the game, if any.

Did any of you play in High School or even College, and if so what position?
Was it taken very seriously where you played, or was it just for the love of the game?
How good were you? Be honest. ;D
Did you win anything?
What is your most cherished memory playing the game?
Did any of you continue into coaching kids later on?

It's great to see RID's boy on his exciting journey, but it also got me thinking about the stories behind some of the guys here.

Now's your chance to re-live your glory years and tell us all about the time you used to suit-up or patrol the sideline. Even if you were a permanent bench warmer, I still wanna know.

Cheers.

Whoa, settle down guys. I didn't realise there would be such a rush.

Who knew there would be so many guys eager to re-live the glory years of their youth?

Now I'm laughing at my own jokes.  [img]http://www.pic4ever.com/i

Oh well, moving on.

Played half a year my sr year in Hawaii. The team I was on was a joke.  coaches had how to coach books on the field! No one had respect for the coach. Cant blame them when he told us that if the school were to pay him 25k a year he too could put a winner on the field! he was referring to what other coaches who won made. the school didn't have even have a team til my JR year. I was out all year with an injury.
I was ok. I was out of position in my book. I was 5-11 174 and they want to put me as an OL?? this is Hawaii.  Samoans grow on trees there!! I asked to play safety and they said I was too big. so I was able to play some LB. We didn't win shit lol just clearly out coached every game. doesn't help either when  your best players are off getting high and drinking before the game. Team could have been good, but no one gave a shit. I don't think they realized just how hard it was lol.

LOL, sounds like me when I played in high school!  I certainly wasn't the best player, but I certainly did my fair share of drinking and smoking : N

All four years of High school and one year of College ball.

Played DE on JV for two years, I feel it was my best position.

Switched to CB for Jr & Sr years.  I was too light for DE on Varsity squad but was quick so CB seemed a better fit.

After high school played at a college Prep Military school in VA.  Found out I thrived in military setting and that inspired my enlistment into the Marine Corps shortly thereafter.  I was decent, but obviously not good enough for a scholarship to a Division 1 college!  Lol

I never played organized ball. My mom was too scared I'd get killed. At 5'9 115 pounds soaking wet I don't blame her. My fondest memory was playing during lunch freshman year. Some big ol country boy (about 6'3 and 220) came running down and no one wanted to tackle him. I briefly got real brave and threw myself in a ball at his knees. I got him down but at the same time I knocked myself out. Woke up to a teacher in my face asking if I was ok lol.
