Without going back through the thread, it seems to me that we DID allow a substitute for drafted drivers who can't race due to injury.  Wasn't it for Hamlin and his neck?

Anyway, Tony Stewart broke his leg.   Grin

Ok, I just went back and looked.

When Hamlin got injured, Tibs owned him.  Tibs was given the options of playing Hamlin's replacement who would be racing in Hamlin's car, picking an extra undrafted driver to replace an injured drafted driver (not just for no reason other than wanting to do it), or driving the car himself.  He decided to drive the car himself.  (Just kidding.)  He ultimately decided to take a 3rd undrafted driver for the duration of Hamlin's injury sit-out.

If we go by what we did back then, I can either play the fill-in driver of Stewart's car or take a third undrafted driver.  (I don't think I stand a chance of catching up in either case, so it's just for the sake of doing whatever I do.  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy )

Any commentary?  Grin

Three-time Sprint Cup champ remains hospitalized for observation

Three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Tony Stewart underwent a successful second surgery on his broken right leg Thursday, three days after a sprint car crash in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

A specialist in North Carolina placed a stabilizing metal rod inside the fractured tibia Thursday, according to a statement from the Stewart-Haas Racing team. The operation was a follow-up to a preliminary surgery Tuesday that stabilized and cleaned the Grade 2 injury, the team said.

Stewart remains hospitalized for observation.

Stewart was leading a 30-lap main event for the American Sprint Car Series at Southern Iowa Speedway on Monday night when a slow car spun into his path. Stewart’s car struck the stopped car, breaking his tibia and fibula in the accident.

The wreck has sidelined the driver of the No. 14 Chevrolet that he co-owns with Gene Haas indefinitely. Road-racing ace Max Papis will drive the car this weekend at Watkins Glen International in Sunday’s Cheez-It 355 at the Glen (1 p.m. ET, ESPN). Interim drivers for future races have not been determined, team officials said.

Stewart currently ranks 11th in the Sprint Cup standings, leading the Wild-Card race for one of two spots in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup postseason. His five career Watkins Glen victories lead the all-time list at the 2.45-mile road course.

Barbary Coast Racing

Carl Edwards
Greg Biffle
Marcos Ambrose
Juan Montoya
Kurt Busch

I picked 3 undrafted drivers, one of them to replace injured Smoke in my roster.  I haven't looked back to see if Tibs kept one of those undrafted picks as a new drafted driver or just kept picking 3 undrafteds.  I'll do whatever he ended up doing.   Grin

Week 22 Unofficials

1   BC
2   Earl
3   Toledo
4   805

As soon as I saw that we all played Ambrose, I was certain he was going to crash.   Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

(And I think that the extra undrafted driver helped me this week.  It is an advantage in scoring to have that flexibility.)

Week 22 Officials!!

I still think that the extra flexibility slot gave me an advantage.  And I think it would be more fair if I declared a drafted driver to replace Stewart rather than just picking a new replacement each week from the undrafted drivers.  Any thoughts?

I've finally looked into the past scoring and drivers things.  When Hamlin went down, Tibs only had one more week to play, then we went to the next draft.  So he just picked an extra undrafted driver for one more race.

I've got 4 more races.  Would you guys rather have me choose a replacement drafted driver for Stewart, taking that driver out of the list of drivers you could use.  Or would you rather I keep taking 3 undrafteds each week and have more flexibility than you have.

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Hey, you can't say I don't try to be fair.   Grin
