Raider Gridiron / Re: Ixnay on Mike Shanahan for 49ers & Raiders

I love this kind of dirt. Why didn't this shit get made decades ago? Instead, everyone makes Al out to be some kind of money-grubbing asshole for firing Shanahan.

How apt is the moniker "Rat" now?

Hard to say how I's feel if we actually hired the Rat.

I'd be shocked for a while and have to get over that initial reaction before I could form an honest opinion. The fact that he even deigned to interview with the Raiders smacks of desperation and/or using us for leverage with the Whiners.

IMO it won't work. My money says he remains unemployed.

“@RaiderNerd: Pep's O vs. Del Rio's D, winner goes on and loser gets a job offer from the Raiders?” >> but then they would both throw game

Dat made me laugh...

I get that hirings won't happen yet...but why aren't we hearing anything about good candidates getting confirmed interviews? I've pretty much lost hope that we're going to get anyone decent.

Who are the good candidates that we haven't been linked to already?

Well I finally saw an article at least stating that we were going to interview Bowles. But what about Ryan? Or Mike White? Both way better than Linehan or Mangini IMO.

True, the Ryan delay could be because he's a "3-4" guy... and we're a 4-3 team...  I know they say Ryan's defense is a "tweener" but its a 3-4 base... and we're built for a 4-3... unless we scrap that, but a complete scheme change would just be another obstacle for us, and right now we probably have enough of those, lol...

That same philosophy could support why Del Rio seems so interesting to them...

We were rumored for the longest time to be moving toward a 3-4 anyway. Right now we NEED change. We suck.

Looks like he has scheduled interviews with ATL and SF, if we don't get to him before either of them, it's a wrap, I think he signs with one of the two...

And this is why we suck...

Pep Hamilton? Pat Shurmur? Gimme a fucking break.

I like him, but I just don't know that I want to see another first time HC brought in. Their failure rate just seems to be so high and we really can't afford to fuck up another HC hire.

IMO Bowles is a little more ready than DA was. Allen should never have even been a consideration. Bowles is a logical, consensus candidate for promotion. DA came out of nowhere.

Get both sides of the Reggie argument.

Dude has made some mistakes for sure. But at the end of the day I keep looking back at last years draft. I mean Jesus God it was like something straight out of Madden or something.

Think he gets another year based on that alone. He does anything remotely like that in this years draft and I'm thinking ewe are really on to something.

We are small market and we must draft well to be competitive.

It won't matter if he keeps hiring special ed graduates for coaching positions. We also need a semblance of a competent staff in order to put our good young talent in a position to succeed.

Rather have Del Rio then Rex. Never been impressed with Rex, at all, and his winning seasons seemed more flukey than good.

Del Rio is a raider fan and would want to do all he could for us. Wouldn't mind it

Not only is Jack Del Rio a local product for #Raiders, but his parents are #Raiders season-ticket holders. He gets it. Plus, he won in Jax

Fuck fuckity fuckin' fuck...I want a WINNER!

I don't want to just hire some asshat to hold the job, fuck up for 3 more years and then on to the next assclown. I want a turnaround CEO. Del Rio just doesn't give me that vibe.

Why get mad at Harbaugh for taking a dream job?

It's an ideal scenario for him to ride in on a white horse and immediately return his flailing alma mater to a state of legitimacy. It'd be hard for anyone to pass up. To allege that he "used" the Raiders is ludicrous.
Im not mad at JH.  I'm so fucking disgusted with this organization right now.  If we had matched Michigans offer right off, I would feel differently.  I seriously can't comprehend we tried to low ball the guy. Yes I Know their offer was generous.  But he already had a better offer on the table.  Did they seriously think coaching the Raiders is better than coaching Michigan????  We are not the Raiders of yesteryear.  We are a team trying to crawl out of the abyss that has been our recent history.  The fact that he didn't take less pay to come here is a fucking given.  He would've headed here in the middle of a fucking rebuild.  I think I gave myself a brain bruise trying to comprehend their thought process.... Ugh.

We low-balled him? We made him an official offer?
