I remember 2 times, once where my account was just gone for some reason. Happened when Tibs was an admin in 2014.

Much of the layout here is dictated by the Simple Machine software that we use. What were you thinking of changing?

I understand that. But we can change/eliminate boards no one is interested in. Bring the forums we want under one umbrella when we log on.

You're seeing it from the perspective of a moderator, something I've never been. The purpose of those subs is obviously to give folks a place to post off-topic crap...but how many of us do that anymore? We really just come here to talk Raiders.

Slo will have the final say, natch.

Looks man...as weird as SD sounds, it makes a ton of sense. We practically sold the place out when the Chargers were playing there.

Raider Gridiron / Re: It's obvious that Carr needs to go
« on: January 04, 2019, 02:44:58 PM »
If I was the incoming GM for the Raiders, my focus would be defense, defense and more defense. (And obviously, the offensive line.) Carr is good enough to run a top ten passing offense given some decent weapons. If we had a defense that could keep us in games and get the ball back, Carr is solid enough to convert most opportunities into points. I think he'd be a lot better if he didn't feel like it was all on him. Cowherd has been using the analogy of quarterbacks being either trucks or trailers. I think Carr is a trailer. He needs a good team around him in order to really succeed.

Cutting bait on him at this point would be a mistake then, unless you could get one of the guys ahead of him on the list. Teams have won titles with much less talented quarterbacks than DC.

Then Having Mike Mayock as the GM should fit you needs since he was a defensive player when he played and is very good at spotting defensive talent.  Also many of the current NFL administrators/coaches seek out and value his talent scouting council, especially about the players that are down the list and not top tier guys.

Again, as a talent evaluator, he's likely very solid.

But there is more to being a GM then finding late round gems.

He did a horrible job as gm of the colts

Exactly...which means that we'll probably give him a job.

 o;)

Upon examining the list of "starting" QB's in the league, I would assert that right now, Carr is definitely better than

Bortles
Dalton
Tannehill
Keenum
Allen
Darnold
Rosen
Garropolo
Winston
Trubisky
Stafford
Prescott
Jackson
Mariota
Manning

Just asking. What would you call John Lynch of the 49er's

Assuming this was directed at me, apologies if not.

John Lynch is at least a former player of some repute, much like RM was.

Mayock played for like, 2 years I think if I remember correctly. Other than that, they are very similar in terms of background. Are you implying that Lynch has been exceptional to this point? His first draft was decent, but the team is selecting ahead of us in the upcoming draft. At best, the jury's out on him as a GM.

Mayock is a talent evaluator, period.

He has never negotiated contracts.

He has never recruited free agents.

He has never managed players or performed the day-to-day administrative duties expected of an NFL GM.

If we're nice and give Mayock a five out of five for talent evaluation, he gets a 'one' in every other facet of the job. So what is he, other than a glorified head scout?

I know it's a pain in the ass, but why not volunteer?

We're on the short list anyway, might as well ask to be on it and make it work for the organization.

Coaches are always complaining about the "distraction" of HK, but I think the bigger issue is the scrutiny that results from being under a microscope. This should be considered an opportunity to improve the perception of the organization and to get some national visibility before the move to Las Vegas.

But would have definitely preferred and experienced guy like McCloughan or maybe even Eliot Wolf... I'm guessing Gruden will handle Free Agency, considering Mayock has zero experience in that area as well...

I completely agree with you here. I'd rather have an established turn-around CEO like the Browns got with John Dorsey. But let's face it...Mayock is perfect for a figurehead GM - high name-recognition guy that looks and feels like a significant hire.

Good news is, he really can't make things any worse than they already are. We are sucking hind tit talent-wise in the AFC West.

Fucking embarrassment. Hate that we let that punk do whatever the fuck he wants.

Someone needs to bring that bitch back down to earth.

How many passes without  an interception now??

too many check downs

Agreed...but it seems to be getting better.

What we need is for Chucky to transfer his cajones to Carr.

Raider Gridiron / Re: CONFESSION OF A DIE HARDER RAIDER.

I'm going to slow down on this guy's going to be a legend stuff. Maybe he will be. But, kaepernick was to be that legend guy too. Strong arm, could run like a deer. Led his team to a Super Bowl. He was going to change the position forever. But, then Defensive Coordinators really started focusing on him. Stopped him from running. Made him stay in the pocket. He became average very quickly.
If he does it again next year. Then let's take another look. But what if he throws for 30 TD's next year. Is he a legend or a QB that had a 50 percent drop in production.

THIS. Yes, Mahomes has had a dream season...but he's a Chef so fuck 'em.

It's been a lot of shock and awe this year, but defenses will catch up. He might still wind up being prolific, but no way in hell he throws fifty TD's in 2019.
